May 2nd Grade Mrs. Shaughnessy
Spelling- We have one more test this year! We will also do some reviewing and complete worksheets we didn’t get a chance to do.
Reading- We are done with the stories in our reading series and will be reviewing. We will be working on: fact/opinion, drawing conclusions, summarizing, cause and effect, and reading to improve fluency.
Grammar- Hopefully we will have more time for writing projects.
Math- Picture Graphs with Scales, making picture graphs, real-world problems with picture graphs, parts of lines and curves, and flat and curved surfaces
Social Studies- How leaders help communities, what a good citizen does, and what communities share
Science- Matter changes
Cursive- Lower Case cursive letter and upper case cursive letters. Please practice at home. It takes time and practice for the cursive “flow” to become more natural.

Field Trip to Courthouse- May 21: students sing from 11:50-12:05. We will be eating cold lunches at school before we leave.
No School- Monday, May 26 is Memorial Day
Last Days of School- Monday, June 2 is the last full day of school/report card day with dismissal at 2:05!! Perfect Attendance awards will be given out at 9:00 that morning in the gym.
Happenings- Keep reading the Tiger Talk newsletter for important information and dates. The school year is winding down!
